For the past few weeks Thanyapura has enjoyed having some very special world-class swim training with Olympic medalists from three different countries.
The Hungarian Olympic champion for the 200-meter breaststroke, Daniel Gyurta, and his brother Gergely, European champion for the 1500-meter freestyle, have been undertaking some very intense training while preparing for the world championships in Doha coming up in December. It has already started to pay off, with Daniel capturing 5 out of 5 golds at the FINA World Cup event in China at the end of October. Congratulations!
We also have the South Australian State team here, with Olympic finalist Sally Foster preparing to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
All this exposure inspires and motivates not only the elite swimmers, but also the lower levels in our aquatics programs. They have been so approachable and open, volunteering to train with our swimmers, give diplomas to our learn-to-swim kids, and share tips and ideas with the masters and the recreational swimmers that have approached them.

Tip #3: Where does 80% of your power come from?
Coach’s Tip of the Month
From Coach Miguel: One thing I have observed from the Hungarian, Belarus, and Australian teams training here is that they always start everything very slowly and take a lot of time to warm up, do the different stroke drills, and correct the technique. And that also includes dryland training, floor exercises, stretching. So my advice is that at least the first 40% of each workout be spent very slowly, doing things perfectly easy.
